Mission Statement

Show-Me Child Care Center’s (SMCCC) goal is to support and supplement the family unit. We focus on the needs of each child as an individual. Our task is to guide the child using Conscious Discipline and structure the environment so that each child will develop to his/her potential. The staff at SMCCC will accept the responsibility of providing a safe and secure environment. Play is the main avenue in which children learn. Our goal is to integrate learning and playing by guiding, directing and encouraging positive intellectual, social, and physical development.

About Show-Me Child Care Center (SMCCC)

• We would like to invite you to visit our facility. We have an open door policy. You can visit anytime during our hours of operation; 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Come see for yourself what a difference we can make in helping your child(ren) develop to his/her potential.
• Show-Me Child Care Center opened in 1995 serving children from two thru ten years offering:
  • Full-time care
  • Before and after school care for children attending Immaculate Conception and Moreau Heights Elementary
  • Summer school-age program
  • Pre-Kindergarten Readiness Phonics Program
• Licensed for 69 children by the Missouri State Department of Health and Senior Services, Section for Child Care and is in compliance with all state regulations.
• Accepts Division of Family Services Financial Assistance Program (DFS)
• Implements curriculum that engages the individual child and adapts to every age and stage of development.
• Provides a mix of independent, teacher-directed, and small group learning experiences and activities.
• Creates multi-disciplinary learning centers that encourage individual skills and emerging interests in the areas of creative expression, literacy, language and handwriting, math/manipulatives, technology, art, dramatic play and outdoor learning.
• Pre-school/pre-K readiness program implementing Weekly Reader and phonics program
• Periodic parent workshops involving group discussion and hands-on activities.
• Transportation provided to local schools. Offering before and after school transportation and holiday/school cancellation care.
  Field Trips to community activities (roller skating, bowling, swimming, movies, etc…)
• Electronic clock “in” and “out” system provides easy and accurate time cards for each child.
• Keyless entry security system regulates traffic in and out of the building to provide optimal safety
• State-of-the-art playground gives opportunities for solitary or cooperative play, we have designated play areas for the various age groups. (Tour the play areas on the photo gallery page.)
• Julie (the director) participated in the summer institute training program for Conscious Discipline and brought back techniques for all staff to implement Conscious Discipline.
• Expanded building an additional 1,000 sq. feet offering more space to the same number of children, Our center well exceeds the state regulated space requirements.
• Qualified for the Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) food program, our program serves breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snack.

About The Director

Julie Schmitz has a B.S. in Child and Family Development from Missouri State University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Missouri, Columbia

• Opened SMCCC doors in 1995 and excited to share staff and programs with the families selecting SMCCC.
• I have five children. two college graduates, two currently in college, and one in grade school!
• I have had a desire to work with children all my life. It is a blessing to serve all the families past, present and future.
• I am excited to introduce Conscious Discipline to our program after a summer training program in 2010. We utilize many tools to individualize the care we offer families.
• I enjoy exercising, cutting grass and spending time at home.
